Ensuring Compliance with TRISKELION: Determination of PFAS in Chicken Eggs

PFAS are widespread in the environment, including food production sites, which means they could be present in your food products—whether consumed or produced—potentially raising red flags for regulatory compliance.

At TRISKELION, we specialize in PFAS analysis, helping businesses ensure the safety and integrity of their food. With thousands of PFAS compounds identified and growing scrutiny from regulatory bodies, it’s crucial to stay ahead of the curve.

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are synthetic compounds prevalent in various industries, from food packaging to personal care products. Despite their performance-enhancing properties, PFAS pose significant concerns due to their persistence and potential health risks.

Our advanced analytical techniques provide comprehensive insights into PFAS presence and levels. Whether it’s unintentional contamination during manufacturing or from collecting the food, we pinpoint potential sources and guide you towards solutions.

TRISKELION‘s expertise goes beyond data analysis—we offer regulatory guidance and actionable insights to ensure compliance and product confidence. In a landscape of evolving legislation and heightened awareness, trust TRISKELION to navigate the complexities of PFAS analysis.

As regulated in the EU 2023/915, food shall not be placed on the market if it contains per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) in a concentration equal to or above the limit values as specified per food type.

The PFAS restriction levels varies for each type of food. For chicken eggs these are:

  • PFOS 1.0 µg/kg
  • PFOA 0.3 µg/kg
  • PFNA 0.7 µg/kg
  • PFHxS 0.3 µg/kg
  • Sum of these 4 PFAS 1.7 µg/kg

At TRISKELION we have developed a robust and sensitive PFAS platform for detecting and quantifying all PFASs as restricted by ECHA in the various foods, including a fully validated method for chicken eggs, and methods for muscle, kidney and liver are on the way.

Next to that, we are able to perform a targeted analysis or screening for any type of PFAS,  depending on your needs.
